If you walk down my street two block, this is the view you would see. Lovely isn't it?These Gulf waters are calm and beautiful, but if you don't live on the coast you might not be aware that we have entered hurricane season.
The National Hurricane Center's forecast for 2006 is for 13 to 16 named storms, including 8 to 10 hurricanes, of which 4 to 6 may be major hurricanes. They do not expect a repeat of last year's record-breaking 28 named storms, however, which included 15 hurricanes, 7 of them major. They will name the storms using the following roster:

Debby

Florence
Gordon
Helene
Isaac
Joyce
Kirk
Leslie
Michael
Nadine
Oscar
Patty
Rafael

Somehow none of these sound like killers, but if I had to put money on one it would be Nadine. Officially, hurricane season is June 1 through November 30, but unofficially, Carlene always says we just have to make it to the Miss America pageant and we'd be safe.

There is no doubt in my mind that the killer hurricane will be Debby. For those of ya'll that don't know, I have a Monster-in-Law named Debby and she is like a hurrican, tornado, tsunami beeotch casserole. So I warn you if they name a hurrican Debby, run for cover.
It is only fair for me to set forth a statement at this time concerning the "Miss America Pageant". For the information of all, the MAP was cancelled last year. I don't know if it was just for last year or if it was forever. If the pageant has been cancelled forever, my prognosticating will be severely hampered. the MAP was my only criterium for telling the future concerning hurricanes.
Watch for Florence.

Before I posted my blog I went on the MAP website to see when the pageant was this year. I got nothing!
Maybe your suspitions are right; maybe it has been cancelled forever.
Oh the humanity!
I searched the web through my AOL Keyword and found the information that the 2006 Miss America was crowned in January, 2006 in Las Vegas. If that means that the MAPs will be held in January from now on, we are in deep trouble. They might as well have been canceled. Oh well such is the fickle finger of fate and the way that these things happen. I hope you have this by the time you get up. Hugs and Kisses from MOM
The first Miss America was chosen in 1921; her name was Margaret Gorman from Washington, D.C. Her bust, waist and hip measurements were 30-25-32.
Hurricane Carla - We were all thrown out of Freeporthours after the Miss America Pagent. Keep in mind, in those days, the televised pagent went on for hours and hours. Each contestant was in her bathing suit (1 piece), evening gown and the top 15 were asked questions and they all had talent. Including, flamining batons and hula hoops. I agree, make it past the Miss America pagent and you are clear. Sue Laza
