When I read that Starbucks was closing 600 corportately owned stores nationwide I was not worried. Why worry, our local Starbucks is the only coffee shop in town. Even when I learned that they were closing stores that opened after 2006, I still wasn't worried.I am a niave fool.
Word began spreading Monday that Rockport Starbucks was shutting down (Portland Starbucks which is 30 minutes away is not). Two of the four in Corpus Christi are closing, as is the Kingsville store. Last night in the drive through Aaron said they have 60 days at least.
I want to write about this some more and probably will, but right now I am experiences all of the stages of grief at once (except of course acceptance). So to my brother David, as many times as you have asked me: How can Rockport have a Starbucks and Lake Jackson can't? Now you know. Obviously we can't.

To you I say, GET OVER IT!! No one NEEDS Starbucks and needs not to waste valuable money which can be used for a real food items like something double dipped and fried or chocolate.
I think God is speaking to you about the need for you to seek real help for this caffeine addiction. I can recommend several 12 step programs which can help you through the withdrawl.
I'm very sorry that you are losing your precious Starbucks. If you really need a coffee drivethrough I'll accomodate you. Just pull up in my driveway and honk and I'll run a triple sugar strong coffee full of cream out to you and you can throw $4 at me. Then I can run to the quilt store and spend it. Also how can the Starbucks drama overtake our fabulous Christmas in July party. Do we not count when there is real drama in town? Do you need a cup of java or something!
Although I am not a Starbucks customer, I really didn't think that Rockport was one of the 600 that were to close. I am sure that this will probably discourage the Winter Texans tourists that are dependent on Starbucks from coming to Rockport. After all, it was one of our big attractions.
Open a new coffee shop, only better! You can do it!!!!!

I am very sad for you Hanna. I know how much you frequent that place and know all the employees by name, probably even their birthdays! But alas, Starbucks is crazy expensive and I hate to say it, but their coffee is not that great!!!!! Their green tea is good, I have to say, and about the only thing I can afford. It was cool to say that we have a Starbucks in little ole Rockport, but it wasn't ment to be. I am surprised it has lasted this long! I love the building though and I hope something cool comes into it soon and it doesn't stay vacant for long. I think a really cute scrapbook store would be sweet. It could be called Scrappin by the Bay...........wink, wink...........

What a bummer! I travel to Corpus several times a year and like to go the Rockport way just to go to that Starbucks. It was shocking to go by there today and it was closed.
