Names are important. My dad, Billy Thomas, didn't like his name, so he went by B.T. My mom, Carlene, wasn't given a middle name, but adopted the middle name Jo after seeing Little Women.
B.T. and Carlene did a good job naming their children. They also did a good job picking the spelling, because Catherine with a C is so much better than Katherine with a K, or Kathryn for that matter. I just got a call from someone I hadn't talked to in a while and they started with this, "Hey Cathy". Although I wasn't immediately sure who it was, I knew it to be a voice from my childhood.
I taught school for 14 years and heard Miss Hanna all the time. More often people in the community just called me Hanna. My pastor called me Hanna for months before his wife informed him my name was Catherine. He had no idea. I am always aware when I hear someone make the switch from Miss Hanna to Catherine. So yes names are important. Think about how much you like to hear your name. How did you get your name?
All that being said, when I name a pet it takes me a while. The name has to fit. I have a new kitten to name and I don't know what to call her. If you don't want to talk about your name, feel free to help me name this kitten. You should know she is scrawny, ferocious, unafraid and somehow girlie all at once.

Tinkerbell
Blanca Diabla
It kind of looks like she's wearing makeup... I don't want to be mean but the name I'm thinking of rhymes with Lammie Raye.
Mander, it took me forever to get the rhyme...lol! That would be a good name because she does have a leaky eye that makes her look like her mascrera is running. :)
In the movie Hustle & Flow he calls his white hooker Snow-bunny. I think its perfect!
ps. for those of you that have not seen the movie i didnt like it....to dirrrrty
About my name i was named by my grandfather he chose Ashley cause they believed that i was a boy (oh and it was supposed to spelled Ashleigh) I would have been fine if he would have stopped there......but he didnt the rest of my names are as followed Maria Guadelupe Conceptiona Guerra(sp)pretty sad when you dont remember how to spell your own name...anyways to piss me off my dad likes to call me Lupita.
I like Tinkerbell, for no reason but she has that Smoky Eye look. My name is Susan Margaret (Margaret is my mother and grandmother's middle name). I was to be Bonnie Margaret but there was some sort of scandal in the town in which I lived when I was born that involve a lady(?) named Bonnie Margaret sooooooo, Bonnie was changed to Susan. Very strange. suelaza
I kinda like Blanca Diabla. But in reality, Tammy Faye is more appropriate. I thoroughly endorse Tammy Faye. But in the meantime, I am going to try to think of an offering of my own to suggest. So hold off on the permanent name so that I will have time to think. She's a cutie.
come on. The Pinkeye Rat. If not her name, it should at least be her title.
The Venerable The Pinkeye Rat, -name-. has a majestic ring if you ask me. and you did!
Also, my parents did a poor job naming me. I have one of those... is it his first name or his last name? names. And I've had to do that mind-numbing office work which is bad enough when you CAN tell which name comes before the comma. I know, in doctor's offices, there have been many conversations along the lines of, "what type of idiot names their kid LINCOLN?!".
I do not know if you have secured a name yet, but I shall forever refer to this cat as Tammy Woo Faye. I think she is part Siamese and her ethnicity should be referenced and respected. The TF is obvious...duh.
My natural mother birthed 3 sons, Randy and Ronnie, so of course I had to have an R name....since my dad was Roy and his father Roland. I wonder if my great grandfather had an R name? Anyway, I was named Raymond Carl. My natural mother was wrapped in burlap and buried a few years back, so I can't ask her about my first name origin and my dad, who I just called said, he has no recollection as to why his wife picked the name...he didn't care, just so it started with an R. My middle name comes from Carl Stevens, who was the preacher down at the Friendship Baptist Church in Clute, Tx at that time. I still have the Bible he inscribed for me....a meaningful treasure. I have always been honored to have been given a name of someone whose purpose in life was to share love and forgiveness....is there any greater gift to give and to recieve? A name, I strive to live up to. Cathern, how am I doing?
And another thing, thanks for sucking me into this blog vortex. It prompted me to call my dad, Roy Eugene to talk about my name and we had meaningful talks about all sorts of things and names...that is the real gift I got from this particular blog....so I don't care what you name that damn cat. Call her 9, since you seem compelled to keep at least that many at all times. When I come to see you... and I hope soon, I'll bring organza, teel, velvet, cotton, silk, felt, paper........by the time I leave you can rescue another kitten and name her 3. :>)
