Labrador of Love

Yesterday on the way to Sonic, I saw a Labrador unattended at Walgreen's. Later as I was leaving Sonic (Dr. Pepper in hand) I saw the little guy trotting up the road. He was definitely out on the town unattended, so I nabbed him. My thinking at the time was this would be an easy rescue because he has tags.
We got home and I found out his most current tag was dated 1998. But not to worry, they were issued by a local vet. So I called the vet at his house and he said, he doesn't keep records back that far. RATS!
The vet suggested I call the local paper and more often than not pets are reunited with their owners without ever having to put an ad in the paper. Being that it was Sunday, this meant I would have to keep Bo (that's what his name turned out to be) over night. Cookie was NOT happy.
Bo, a black lab, was still very young. Obviously those tags were a lot older than he was. You could tell he was being trained to hunt. He would sit on command and shake your hand if you asked several times. What a sweet boy. I knew his owners were worried.
So today I was able to connect with his owner by calling the paper. They came to retrieve their Retriever and there was a joyous reunion. I was rewarded with 18 fresh eggs from their very own chicken coop. And from the way they talked, when it comes to their eggs I have unlimited access.
Now get this twist, when she opened the back door of her SUV Bo AND Cookie jumped in and laid down ready to go.

Dogs love to go for rides. Open the door and they're ready. Where did the owners of the lab live? I mean, how far away from home did the lab get? Somebody probably opened a door and he jumped in. That's why I'm so glad the "cookster" has tags. I'm gonig to be sending you some good dog sayings by separate email. Glo

Hanna, what no picture of the lab? I love labs, they're so pretty and friendly. I think it's awesome that you love animals that much..that your willing to rescue them. I'd be worried if they turned on me or attacked as it has happened before. Anyhow, i think your a wonderful animal lover and any animal would be fortunite to end up in your hands.

P.s....you should try a sonic dr.pepper with cherries in it, not the cherry syrup...but actual cherries...yummmmm
later jenny......lance

p.s.s. i put the lance away from the jenny so as to not confuse you(it's me from work ;))

I am thrilled that the dog has owners and you found them. I don't think Cookie would of taken to sharing you with another 4 legged furry friend.....

Jenny From Work,
I wish I had a picture of him. I put a carpet piece on the back porch for him. When we sat there together he would lean his whole body into me and put his face next to mine. THEN he would give me sideways licks. The whole time Cookie was in our faces barking. I wonder what she was saying.

Darn! I thought you were going to be a lab owner. Ours are doing well, except they've been sick, first Zeke then Zoey. Loose at both ends. Hopefully, it won't run (pun) through the family!

Hanna,
cookie was griping at you. She was telling you that she's you one and only...and she can't believe your letting another...dog! give you doggy kisses in front of her.She was probably calling to mind the time you were playing with that cat over at Albin's Exterminating and she had to honk at you in order for you to stop. HEHE...funny stuff...anyhow...bye Hanna

Labs are so wonderful. Tim had one for 13 years. She was the sweetest girl. The animals know when you are in the area when they are in trouble. They can sense you. Thry know they will be safe. I am sure Cookie was beside herself. love suelaza
